And now let's get back to our lesson, which is Verbs related to Money.

So whether it's the start of the month or the end of the month we all talk about money

because money is considered to be very important. Now there are some verbs that we end up using

too talk about money because we do lots of things with money.

Right! So here I have some verbs for you that you can use in your everyday conversations.

So we gonna learn how to use these verbs in your sentences. Let’s get started

The first verb that we have related to money is to borrow.

Now when do you use this when you are talking about money?

May be you are broke, it’s the end of the month and you have no money left with you

but you like something and it is really important that you have to buy it and you have no money,

then what do you do? You take money from someone. You go to your

mom and ask for some money ,which probably you might have to return it back to her once

you have money with you. So the action of taking money from someone for a little while

and which has to be returned back, well the perfect verb to use in English is to borrow.

I borrowed some money from my Mom to buy this new laptop.

So to borrow it means to take money from someone which has to be returned.

Let’s move on to another verb that we use in English related to money which is To Earn.

Now when do you use this? Now when you talk about making money, now making doesn't mean

that you designing and making money Well, to earn it means , when you work hard,

probably you work at some office, you do a job that pays you so that means that you are

earning that money. Because of the your hard work that you have put in because of your

efforts that you are putting in, you make money.

Someone pays money to you so that payments are your earnings. So to earn money it means

that you are making money.

Let’s move to another verb which is to lend money.

Now this is the complete opposite of the verb borrow.

To lend it means to give money to someone. Probably my friend is broke, it’s the end

of the month she has no money left with her and she has to buy something very important.

Because she has no money I will give some money to her which she will return it back

to me once she has enough money. So lending money, this action is actually when you give

money to someone which has to be returned later. So it’s the opposite of the verb

borrow. Borrow is when you take money from someone where as to lend is to give money.

Let's move on to another verb which is to pay or to spend money.

Now when do you use this? To pay is when you make payments for something that you buy.

You go to a store, you love a dress for yourself. You are like Wow this is such an amazing dress!

or men love buying shoes , wow these are amazing pair of shoes!

Now to buy these shoes you pay money , or you spend money, so when you give payments

that is when you use the verb to or to spend. I spent $300 on this new laptop. Al right,

that's how you will use this in English. So to pay or to spend is when you are making

payments or when you are buying something.

The next one that we have which is really important for every one of us is to save.

To save money Now, when do you use this?

Now many of us love spending a lot of money or we end up paying a lot of money for different

things but it is also important for us to save money so that we have for our future

or for certain things that we are looking forward to buy. If you save money, you will

not really have to borrow money from someone. To save money is to save or keep money for

your future expenses or for the things that you need to buy. People have piggy banks at home especially

little children they save money in their piggy banks or we also have bank accounts wherein

we put our savings into. That's how you will use this verb. Let's move on to another verb

which is to owe. Now this verb is used when you owe someone some money. Which means that

it is important for you to return some money to someone or you have bought something and

you have to make payments for it. So it’s not actually your own money, it's the money

that you need to give it to someone or you need to return it to someone because you had

borrowed it from someone. For example - I lent some money to my friend and now she owes me

$400. So which means I am using the verb she owes me because it is now the time for her

to return the money, she has to payback $400 to me. So to owe is to return or to pay someone

or to payback. The next one is to win. When does that happen? Does that really happens?

Well I just thought we always earn money. So do we really win money? Well, of course

we do. If you are into gambling, you often go to casinos and you gamble and if it’s

your lucky day, Yes, you do win money. So here you are not borrowing money from someone,

you are not earning it’s not because of your hard work that you are getting these

payments but it’s because you are lucky, you are smart, you are at the casino gambling

and you win money. So I was in a casino in Vegas last year and I won $1000. Yes I did.

So that’s how you will use the verb to win when you talk about money. So win is when

you get money because you gambled. Winning in gambling and also when you win a lottery. You have posted your name in some

lottery and you won. SO you can either win when you gamble or when you participate in

a lottery then you win money. The last verb that we have related to money is to lose money.

There are times when you lose money as well. This can be used in two ways. One is when you

are gambling or you have put in a lot of money for some lottery scheme and it’s not your

lucky day. So it means you lost money, you didn't win but you lost money.

And it can be also used when someone robbed you or stole your wallet and there was a lot

of money then you would say I lost some money. So, you lose money if someone has robbed you

or stolen stuff from you or when you are gambling and you didn't really win anything. So that

is when you lose money. So these are some 8 verbs that you can use in your everyday

conversation especially when you are talking about doing anything with your money. So start

using them and I will be back with a new lesson soon till then you take care.
